The Sayings of Samuel Godfrey George, June 2012

In the mind there is the good along with the bad. You cannot take away the bad without also taking away some of the good, as the bad and the good are intertwined. The bad must stay to point to the good. The evil in the human heart must remain to direct one to the good. Without evil being present, one will not even be aware of the good that is also present.

When Christ enters the human heart evil also remains. The essential evil of the human heart can never be removed. It shall remain with the good that is inspired by Christ. The evil may be subdued by the good, but it cannot be cut out of the heart. If evil is removed then there will be no strife between good and evil. And on no occasion has it been revealed either in the Bible or elsewhere that this earthly life will be without such strife.

If one unreservedly agrees with everything that is revealed even if the revelation is from God, then one has failed to exercise one's mind. The mind has been given to Man to validate the information that passes through it. It has not been given to confirm without experimentation the so-called truth, even the divine truth. One must bow to the wisdom of God and to the wisdom of the ages, but not without personal meditation and experience of everything that is presented as truth.

I realise that the Bible progressively reveals the mind of God and by the time it ends it reveals all that God wanted to reveal, but it certainly does not reveal everything. The secret things still belong to God.

I work for God. So God is my boss. Because no human being is my boss, it may seem like I am not accountable to any one. No human may rule over me, but there is One greater than a human being who rules over me. As an overseer He is more thorough than any human equivalent. To Him I must account for the time and the grace that have been given me. This accountability to God far exceeds anything that any human authority would demand.

When we sing "Jehovah Jireh cares for me", do we realize what a privilege it is for us to have God himself care for us? Yes, God cares for us, as a father cares for his child. In fact he cares even more. His love is greater and truer than the love of any human parent. You are a child of God. So trust in Him today despite circumstances even if they are dire. Trust in God. He shall not fail you.

If I want to praise my God today with songs and prayers, who can stop me from doing that? Who can stop me from worshipping my God? Worship is my decision. God is my God. No one, absolutely no one can stop me from worshipping God today.

"Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Yes, it surely can. "Can anything good come from my wasted years?" Certainly much can emerge from mistakes if you are willing to wait. All will be made clear in time. Wait till the mysterious good is revealed behind the blackened marks on your defeated face.

Whatever I do today, the first and the last and the main thing that I will do is to hope in God cheerfully. I have a lot to sing about. Jesus died for my sins, so I can walk free today. Jesus is also living in me. So I need not fear the troubles of this life. Whatever comes my way, I shall face it in the courage that God Himself is in me, and that He will help me face every challenge and conquer every difficulty.

Keep working even when work doesn't make sense. Keep helping even when help is not appreciated. Keep loving even when your love is rejected. For such is your task, and if you keep at it, you will see that day when you realize that your work was not your own, your help was not in your strength and your love was not from your heart. Then the meaningless will receive meaning.

I have always been in the middle of a mess. But I have not always acted as I ought to have. But this is a new day. I am determined to pursue the path to God.

These are the words that I shall listen to: I am a servant of God doing His will, living His life and guiding others to Him. I shall lack nothing, for God is my provider and no good thing will He withhold from me.

What has been seen is recorded in the mind. And what is in the mind can never be erased.

We must laugh more the healthy, unhurtful kind of laughter.

To be able to see the Lord and His works is my everyday dream.

Let the image of Jesus be always displayed in the eyes of my mind.

The aim of grace is to change through love, not to maintain through tolerance.

To be in union with God is to be in union with what He created.

I read the work of atheists and unbelievers not only to familiarize myself with their objections concerning God and religion, but also to see for myself why they cannot totally understand the Scriptures, how what seems clear to me is clearly hidden from them. Certainly God has made it difficult and maybe even impossible for some to understand His ways. In fact He has made it quite easy for them to misunderstand Him.

How do we worship God?

Many people go to church to worship God. Denominational differences in Christianity may involve different styles of worship. But what ...
