"I started as a child of a Hindu. I started as an atheist, an atheist who made fun of God (the God of the Bible), who mocked God and who mocked everyone who believed in God, and now I have turned into someone who speaks for God."

When We See Jesus We See God
Jesus Christ - have you heard that name? Do you know what that name
means? Jesus was his original name. And then he was called the Christ.
Do you know what that means? The Christ means the Messiah. Do you know
what is meant by the term, “the Messiah”? The Messiah is a divine
figure, who was prophesied to enter the world and save the people of
God. Is this Jesus, who was born two thousand years ago, the Messiah? Is
this Jesus the Christ? Some people thought so. Others had their doubts.
We read in the Bible, in the Gospel of John: (Some of the people who lived in Jerusalem had this question) “Could our leaders possibly believe that he is the Messiah? But how could he be? For we know where this man comes from. When the Messiah comes he will simply appear. No one will know where he comes from.” So they had it worked out. They had a certain notion of God. They expected God to do a certain thing. They expected God to send the Messiah in a certain way. They expected the Messiah to arrive just like that, to appear out of nowhere. They couldn’t accept the Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah because they knew where he came from. Jesus understood their thoughts and said to them, “Yes you know me. And you know where I come from. But I’m not here on my own. The one who sent me is true and you don’t know him. But I know him because I come from him, and he sent me to you.”
So Jesus said to the people who questioned his status as the Messiah, “You know me only so much. But there is something you do not know. I came from a certain person. And you don’t know that person.” I think these are significant words: “I came from a certain person and you don’t know that person. But I know that person because he sent me. I have seen him.” Jesus was referring to God, God the Father. He claimed that God the Father sent him to the world, and that the people who questioned his status as the Messiah, didn’t know God the Father.
At this Christmas time, when we are about to celebrate the birth of this Jesus, who is also the Christ, let us throw away all preconceived notions regarding God. We have a certain understanding of God, and we expect him to work in a certain way. But God didn’t do that two thousand years ago. Though Jesus fulfilled many prophecies during his lifetime, his entry into the world was most remarkable because it was not at all noteworthy. He was born in very humble circumstances. He was born to very humble people. Except for the three wise men who visited him and honoured him there was nothing particularly remarkable about his birth. The angels did announce his birth to shepherds. That was a remarkable moment. But when you consider the fact that he came very humbly into this world, that he was born in a manger, and that he was born to a carpenter, and a woman, who became pregnant before her marriage - these are not ideal circumstances in which a person is born. God defied human imagination and expectations when Jesus Christ was born. And he continued to defy human expectations.
The message of the Lord Jesus Christ was nothing like the message that was preached by people before him. It was remarkable. He preached forgiveness. He preached loving one's enemies. He preached that people should bless their enemies and pray for their enemies. This is a remarkable message. One doesn’t hear this message in anything that came before the Lord Jesus Christ.
This Christmas I have this message to convey to the world: we have certain expectations of God. We believe that we know God. Those who have studied God, those who have read about him have this idea that they can work out God. Jesus proved to everyone that God’s mind cannot be worked out. He was an exceptional manifestation, he was a shocking manifestation of God. One of his own disciples asked him at a certain time, “Show us the Father”. And Jesus said, “How can you even ask such a thing? The one who has seen me has seen the Father.”
This is the truth. This is the Truth whom we call the Lord Jesus Christ. When we see him, we see the one who sent him. We don’t know the one who sent him. This world doesn’t know God. But Jesus came into the world to reveal God to us. He is the Christ. He is the Messiah, who came in a way in which no one expected him to come, and who went away in a way in which no one expected him to go away. Everything about him was remarkable. This is the Christ that we will remember during this Christmas. He defies our expectations. His love is beyond description. His grace is beyond our belief. He loves us beyond measure. He forgives us of all our sins. This is Jesus. And he represents God. When we see Jesus we see God.
Let us see God during this Christmas. And let us remember this: that God will surprise us as he surprised us two thousand years ago. We can never ever claim to know him. We just know that he is love. And he expressed his love through the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us be grateful for that love. Let us thank God, and let us truly celebrate Christmas by celebrating his love. I wish you all a blessed Christmas.

Christmas Eve At St.Mary's
I spent Christmas Eve at the brilliantly lit St. Mary's Church, Hyderabad, India
Thoughts On Christmas
The lack of
spirituality in Christmas is lamentable. for this is not the way true believers
of Christ should celebrate Christmas. Christmas should not be a light, trivial
moment. It is not a moment for frivolous and mindless celebration. It is a
moment for a serious consideration of our standing with God and our
relationship with His Son Jesus Christ.
People are not
comfortable with the word "Christ" anymore. The word "Christ”
narrows down the scope of Christmas. Christmas has become a festival for all,
for even those who neither know nor care about Jesus Christ.
Though I am fond of
Christmas cakes and other goodies, the best food I can have during Christmas is
Christ himself. I must consume Christ as He told me to always and especially
during Christmas. It is His truth that I must consume and His love that I must
drink.
Do people really
celebrate the birth of Christ during Christmas? Or are they celebrating
something else?
Children must know who their Lord is. Parents must teach children that Christmas is no mere holiday but a holy day.

God Defied Expectations In Jesus Christ
People had certain notions of God. Certain prophets had written about God. There was a certain understanding of God when Jesus arrived on the scene. But Jesus did something else. He presented a certain image of God that wasn't there before. He revealed God in a way in which God was never revealed before. This is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the human manifestation of God. He is God in human form.

Christmas In Suffering
O Lord, when will this
suffering end? Are you here? Are you here with me? Or am I fooling myself into
thinking that you are here with me? How difficult this journey is! How
impossible it seems at times! How unbearable this cross is!
We all bear crosses for
the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who trust in Jesus, those who follow the Lord
Jesus Christ, have to carry a cross. This is a requirement. Jesus said, “If you
want to follow me, deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me on a daily
basis.” Sometimes I am tempted to ask, “O Lord, will this cross get lighter?
Will a day come when I can lay aside my cross? The suffering seems endless.”
“Why must I be persecuted by my enemies all day long?”, a certain psalmist
asked. “Why must I endure this oppression? Why must I suffer so much?”
I have come to this
understanding. The people of God suffer in many ways. Each one has a certain
kind of suffering. And this suffering has gone on for a very long time. I’m not
the only one who is suffering. Others are suffering. I know that they are
suffering. During this Christmas time I need to think about them. I need to
think about this suffering that all of us are going through.
Our lives are not
perfect. There is something missing. There is something that troubles us. There
is something that refuses to go away no matter how much we pray, no matter how
much we believe in God. A certain suffering remains, as it remained with Paul,
the apostle of Jesus Christ, who prayed three times about a certain suffering.
And God said in reply, Jesus said in reply, “My grace is sufficient for you.”
Today all that I have
is God’s grace. And that is enough. “My grace is sufficient for you.” All that
we have today, as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, is his grace. His grace
is sufficient for us. Let us believe that. Let us declare that. And let us
continue to declare that despite how we feel. And we don’t feel very well. It
doesn’t matter how we feel. God’s truth cannot change. If he said (that) his
grace is sufficient for us, it means that his grace is sufficient for us.
There are certain
problems that will not go away. There are certain tendencies that will remain
within us, tendencies that we are not proud of, that we are not happy with. A
certain problem will remain; a certain disease will remain. A certain rebellion
will continue. But we must trust in God, who is working in us. He alone knows
what he is doing. We must trust him to do his work, though we do not understand
the way, the way in which he works. His ways are different from our ways. His
thoughts are different from our thoughts. This is God. This is the fact
regarding God, which we must reconcile ourselves to. We should be reconciled
with this fact that God has his own way of doing things and we should trust
him. He who promised is faithful. He who promised to save you is faithful. He
will not abandon you. Believe that.
Your sufferings will
be many. The Bible does not promise people that we will have a trouble-free
life if they (we) believe in God. The Bible does promise problems. “Many are
the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord will deliver him from them all.”
“When you are faced with many trials, be happy”, says the Bible. “Consider
yourselves blessed.”
I have many troubles
in my life today. So I am blessed. And if you have many troubles in life you
are blessed as well. Rejoice in the fact that God is working in you, that you
are a work of God and that he will complete his work. “He who began a good work
will be faithful to complete it.” And no matter how it feels, despite our
cries, despite our impulsive cries, and we cry out to God and say, “How long O
Lord, how long?”
It’s Christmas time.
It’s time to think about what God did two thousand years ago. Let us celebrate
what God did two thousand years ago. He sent Jesus Christ, the only one who
could save this humanity. He provided hope to a hopeless world. It was God’s
way of saving a world, which was doomed to destruction. We all live in this
world. We ourselves were doomed to destruction before Jesus Christ died for us
on the cross, and saved us, and saved us by spilling his blood, by laying down
his life for us. Today, in the midst of our problems, let us not forget God’s
great answer to the greatest of all problems – the ultimate destruction of the
human soul. God provided Jesus Christ as the solution. He who could save us
from ultimate destruction can also save us from temporary problems. And we will
have many temporary problems, and we do have many. But let us cast our cares on
God today and despite how it feels let us trust him. Shall we do that today?
God bless you. Enjoy
your Christmas because God is with you.

Is God In Control Of The World?
Is God really in control of life? When I ask myself this question I
have to define the word “control”. What do I mean by control? Does he
control the living beings on earth in such a manner that only good takes
place and all bad is avoided? If “control” means that, then God is
certainly not in control, at least not displaying this sort of control
in life. He is not in control of life, at least he is not displaying
this kind of control. He doesn’t control us. He doesn’t control human
beings. He doesn’t control animals as well.
This morning I saw a scene, which made me very sad. I saw a dog maul a little kitten. The poor kitten was badly injured. It was not able to walk properly. But it had the spirit to drag itself under a car. It rested under a standing car. I don’t know what happened to the kitten later. I said a prayer for it. I asked God to take care of the kitten. But many kittens would have been mauled today by bigger animals. Many smaller animals would have suffered today on account of what the bigger animals did to them. There seems to be cruelty in life. I see cruelty in every place. I see cruelty among human beings. And I see cruelty among animals. When I see cruelty I need to ask myself the question, “Is God really in control? Or is this world without control? Is there no control at all?
Control is what we find in human minds. Human beings talk about control. Human beings would like to be controlled in the way they interact with other human beings. Human beings talk about restraining themselves. From where did they get this concept of control? Why are human beings trying to control themselves? Why can’t they be uncontrolled? Why can’t they do whatever they want? Why should there be any restraint in the way human beings behave? And why do some human beings believe that they need to be restrained because of what an external presence may think of them? Why do some human beings believe that there is an external God who wants them to be controlled in their behaviour?
I have asked a few questions: “Is God really in control? If he is, what sort of control is this?”It is certainly not a control, which eliminates undesirable behaviour and promotes only desirable behaviour. It is not such a control. God doesn’t police us that way. If he is in control, what sort of control is this? When we see cruelty all around us, when we see unfairness and wickedness all around us, what sort of control does God display in a world like this? How can we say that God is in control? Yes, there is cruelty in life. There is unfairness. There is wickedness. But there is also control. There is control in the human mind. Many human beings want to be controlled in the way they behave. Many human beings also attempt to control others in the way they behave. There is a certain desirable code of behaviour and human beings are expected to adhere to this code. And those who do not do so will be controlled to do so. The law enforcement agency will control human beings to behave in a certain way, and if they don’t (behave in that way), they (human beings) will have to pay a penalty for their lack of control.
If human beings are controlled in the way they behave, then how does this reflect God’s control? How does this mean that God is in control? Man is made in the image of God. Soif Man desires control, if Man feels the need to control himself and others, then this need reflects a certain divine characteristic. To put it in another way, God works in human beings, and it is in this way that he controls the world, by getting human beings to be aware of a certain lawlessness in their behaviour and to do something about it. Human beings are made aware of the dangers of lawlessness, and they are also directed to control this lawlessness in their own behaviour and in the behaviour of others.
Though cruelty can be found all around us, control is also found, the desire for control is found, the desire for acceptable behaviour is also found, the insistence on good behaviour is also found. One cannot behave any way one wants. There are controls. Human beings employ these controls, and they do so because they are made aware of the need for control. When human beings are made aware, I believe they are made aware by a superior force. There is a superior force in each and every one of us. We are made in the image of God. We have his image in us.Though it may not be a perfect image of God, there is a certain image, and we feel the need to conform to a divine principle of control.
Is God in control of this world? Not (in) the way one normally considers the word control, one normally understands the word “control”. God doesn’t control us. He does give us the freedom to decide for ourselves. At the same time he also plants in us the awareness of the dangers of lawlessness and thus he persuades us to control ourselves and to control others.
It’s not an easy life.It is difficult. But it is not hopeless. It is not a lost cause. This life on earth, difficult as it is, cruel as it is, unfair as it is sometimes, perhaps even many times, is not a hopeless act. It is certainly not something that we must give up on. There is control. Let us hang on to this control. And let us live desiring good not only for ourselves but also for others.

Christmas In Suffering
Our lives are not perfect. There is something missing. There is something that troubles us. There is something that refuses to go away no matter how much we pray about it, and how much we believe in God. There is a certain suffering that refuses to go away. All that we have today as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ is the grace of our God. And that is enough. Let us believe that. Let us declare that. And let us continue to declare that despite how we feel. And we don't feel very well.
Why Celebrate The Birth Of Jesus Christ?
Why should one take joy in the birth of Jesus Christ? What did he do 2000 years ago that still has an impact on us?
Remember God's Love During This Christmas
If we love Christ we must love what He stood for, and what He still stands for. And what He stands for is love. We must stand for love. We must love others despite their faults and regardless of their reactions to us.
Determined To Enjoy This Christmas
I will not let this Christmas slip away without my enjoying it to the full. Despite distractions and problems I will drink deep of Christmas this time.

What's In It For Me?
I think it is impossible to be utterly selfless. But it is desirable that one is as unselfish as possible. It is desirable that one seeks God's goals instead of one's own goals. This is the realization that God has brought me to after much self-involved wandering.

This Christmas I Am Thankful
This is the season for me to be thankful. So I consciously discard every negative thought and worry today and focus on the good that still remains in my life.
I Choose Not To Worry
Though there are problems in my life, I will take my eyes off them. For greater is the power of God in me than the combined weight of all problems in this world. I will fix my eyes on God and wait for His solutions to my problems.
Is God In Control Of This World?
Does God control this world in such a manner that he eliminates bad behaviour and promotes good behaviour in all human interactions? Does God control other animals in a similar way? Apparently not is the answer to both questions. Can we then say that God exercises no control over the world in which we live? Yet the truth is that the world is indeed controlled to a certain degree. And this control arises from the human being who desires to control himself and others. Why do humans desire control? Is it because they know the danger of not being in control? If so from where could they have derived this notion of control?
Christ The Eternal Word
Jesus came into the very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

O Come All Ye Faithful
Let us adore our God, the Lord Jesus Christ, as we celebrate His birth in our hearts.
Hail Thou Ever Blessed Morn
Let me usher in the season of Advent this year with a reminder of what happened in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. Let us prepare ourselves for our remembrance of God's greatest gift to mankind.

What We Can Still Do In Fading Light
Our lights may be fading, but we still have life in us to tell someone else what and Who makes us purposefully alive. As those who have been given a purpose in life let us desire that others may also live so purposefully.
Let's Share Jesus During This Christmas
Christ is not our secret, a privilege reserved for ourselves. We are told to share Jesus Christ with every one who does not know Him.
Welcome The Inconvenient Person This Christmas
2000 years ago Jesus did the most inconvenient thing for us. He died a terrible death to save us from eternal destruction. Can we who have much to thank Him for not tolerate a troublesome person or two during this season of Christmas?
Watch And Pray
Even Christians are vulnerable, particularly Christians are vulnerable to evil and immoral ways. Therefore there is this need for every Christian to be watchful and to pray so that he may not fall into temptation. But if a Christian should fall into temptation, let him take strength from the fact that there is a mediator in heaven called Jesus Christ who speaks on behalf of every sinner who has cast himself on God.
Give Love To Those Who Do Not Know Love
Love should be expressed particularly to those who do not know what love is.
Be Patient With Those Who Do Not Know God
Man is born incorrect and unrighteous. All correctness and righteousness comes from God, so those who do not know God do not find correct and righteous behaviour possible. It is therefore necessary for those who know God and who are guided by God to bear with those who cannot be guided in the same way because of their disbelief in God.

This Troubled Advent - Samuel Godfrey George
A worker has left us suddenly. This has brought about much difficulty in our lives during this season of Advent.

Loving Those Who Are Unpleasant And Ugly
People are not easy to love. If we were called by God to love only those people who are easy to love, then such a task is not worthy. But the Lord Jesus Christ, when He called us to love one another as He loved us, knew well that He was asking us to do something difficult and even impossible in human strength. Yet He desired that, for we ourselves are loved by God when we have nothing to merit that love. We must love others as God loves us.

Do Small Things With Great Love
It may not be possible to do great things. But there are small acts of love waiting to be done. We can offer a smile to someone who is lonely. We can offer the love of God to someone who is emotionally damaged. We can take care of an injured animal. We can water a plant. Let us not be so intent on doing something great that we miss out on what is simple and maybe more urgent.

The Sayings of Samuel Godfrey George - October 2013
Jesus still remains
the same today as He was 2000 years ago. He still saves the suffering and the
afflicted. He still frees the captives.
Whatever the
problem in your life, don't let it keep you from admiring God's flowers.
Flowers remind us of God's love. And we need to be reminded of that love.
Don't forget to
thank God today for everything, even the little thing. For a little thing is
not little at all.
Even a dog needs
the Aaronic Blessing. Every animal needs our blessing.
How far can
depravity go when holiness encamps around?
Not striving in my
own strength but receiving from His grace in my weakness is how I shall be
found.
That trial is over.
This trial has come. Soon this trial will also be over. And another will come.
Trials come and go, but God remains with me and takes me through every one of
them, and as this goes on I grow closer to God and trust Him even more.
What's the use of
statistics? You can't take them to the grave. And in the next world they will
mean nothing.
Thank you Lord for forgiving
me every time, even when I didn't know and didn't ask for forgiveness.
God allows troubles
in our lives to remind us that we are never alone and that He walks with us in
our time of trouble and will eventually deliver us from it. God wants to
strengthen our faith through this experience.
What I need to do
is to dwell on God's love for me, instead of contemplating what my sinfulness
is doing to my relationship with God.
Do I believe in the
goodness of God overpowering my own badness? This is the question.
We were made aware
of sin so that we may not glorify ourselves.
You must praise
God. But to praise God you must know God and what He has done for you.
Say "no"
to your computer every now and then. Take a break and read a book. Or walk into
a garden and observe the art of God. Or just be where you are and reflect on
the truths of life.
If you are poor and
needy God will be near.
Evil winds will not
sway me. I'm rooted in The Way, The Truth and The Life. And no one can uproot
what He has planted.
Whatever love you
receive today, whether you perceive it as big or small, pause for a moment,
consider it well, and say, "Thank you."
A mountain of a
difficulty presented itself in my life. I responded by praying to God and
placing my trust in Him. And God didn't disappoint me.
When you
continually embrace the light you will eventually glow.
In the lean season
be grateful for a time of plenty.
Greater is God in
us than the sum of all our troubles. So let us stand tall and face what comes
against us in the knowledge that God is with us.
In calmness
remember the lessons of strife.
Don't mourn for
those who are not here. Celebrate those who are here.
Everything that I
do matters.
Let me not forget
the sacrifices that others have made for me.
Let me be grateful
for the little that I have.
You may not have
the power to do anything else. But you can love. Be where you are and love someone
without seeking any gain. Love that person with your thoughts and your prayers.
Love because you have been loved. Love as many as you can.
God's love must
reach people. And I must help. That's what I need to focus on.
Let me not give up
hope today. I hope to receive God's love. And I hope to share it with His
people.
Do not hesitate to
give generously today.
Today let me not
fail to pray again. Despite the silence of God I will continue to pray and
hope. I know this. God is faithful. He does not abandon.
Jesus Christ is my
light. And progressively his great light has dispelled my great darkness.
Don't wait for Man.
Wait for God.
In everything I
will give glory to God today.
Share your gifts
with everyone. The greater the gift the greater should your sharing be.
When God is at your
side, and even inside you, then do not be afraid. Even reject the very
suggestion of fear.
How can I thank God
enough for the great gift of a loving mother? May mothers in the world be
blessed for their selfless dedication to their children's well-being.
God will not fail
me today. This I will declare.
With God I can
humble myself beyond belief.
Let me be without
greed and the desire to be popular. Let me rejoice in what God has created me
to be.
Whatever the
problem, take it the Lord in prayer. He will solve it.
Every child is
God's child before he is any man's child. We must respect all children as
God's own children and then we will treat them well.
Trust in God's plan
whatever that is.
Never quit what
you've been trying to do for so long. There's a reason why you have done that,
and it's not for the purpose of giving up.
No one can
create life except God. Give thanks to God for life every day.
Give love. Give
peace. Never give without God.
Teach me to be
still. Teach me to know who You are.
Today as I wait for
help I remember every time in the past when God sent me help.
Never hold on to
beauty. Let it go.
What are God's
feelings when I sin? I don't know that. I don't even want to guess that. But I
know this: God loves me no matter what I do. And in His love I can always
trust.
God worked in me
even when I was struggling with my own fallen nature. God worked His good
despite my evil.
God has blessed me
even in my waywardness. Let me not forget this today.
Do not believe in
God because you are afraid of going to hell. But believe in God because He
loves you the way you are. And there is nothing you can do to make Him love you
more. Love God because He loves you and will never leave you because He wants
to save you from yourself.
Think about the one
good thing that happened today. And be thankful for it.
God will not
abandon the one who trusts in Him. This is a message that I received from a
friend. And I now convey it to all who need it.
A lesson for life
is to celebrate the love of God in good and bad times, especially in the bad
times, when joy is naturally impossible.
It is God alone
that I seek above every other being. It is His uncreated beauty alone that I
desire above all created beauty.
I know who I am and
what I am capable of. Above all I know that God is working in me. And that is
enough to handle any negative reaction that I may receive.
God is faithful. He
will not fail you today.
Don't be in a
hurry. What's in your heart will flow.
Let it flow out of
your heart and as it flows let it gladden you. But do not strain it out and let
it not ache when it comes out.
I don't trust
myself and anything that I do. I don't trust any human and his ability to save
me. But I trust in God's grace. And it is His grace that I seek today.
O God, I am so
utterly dependent on you now. And it is so scary.
I should never be
so intent on receiving that I am not giving. It is better to give than to
receive.
When you turn from
hate to love and from words of death to words of life, a certain death ceases
to die.
Giving love is more
important than making money.
Is there such a
thing as a correct approach to God? And who has it in this world?
Today I have the
urge to celebrate the uncelebrated and bless the unblessed. Thank you God for
that.
When you put another
person before you, you have done very well indeed.
It is most
convenient when defeat comes before victory.
No one has come to
my party. But I will celebrate.
I have many
mountains to climb. Yesterday I felt desperate. But today I am happy and at
peace, though nothing has changed. For I know that Christ is with me in this
terrible place. And even the valley of the shadow of death is a beautiful place
when He accompanies me.
I truly believe
that God will not abandon me. Still every day I consider that possibility and
discard it in faith.
Tough roads are
good. And this is not so just to console those who travel tough roads. It is
very true that tough roads lead to the true good.
It is not fame that
I want. It is Christ that I want. But it was not always like this. There was a
time when I was crazy about being known. Today I stay away from the limelight.
Wishing people well is
good. Loving them is best.
I have learned to
bless after many bitter, hateful years. And I have learned this from Jesus Christ, the one who revealed the heart of God.
Oh God, what am I
to do? I have waited and waited and waited. I know that I should keep on
hoping. How can I let my hope die? This is the nature of the strife involved in
the God-centred life. And let me today not be found lacking. Supply strength
and hope and faith and everything else that I need. O Lord, come to my rescue
today.
In every time, even
in a troubled time, let the follower of Jesus Christ not forget to rejoice in
his Lord.
Let this be a place
for me to make mistakes and to learn from them. Let me make mistakes but not
the same ones.
I don't have a
crowd but I do have a few interested onlookers. And that's fine.
Out of turbulence
came a gracious clarity and terrible agony was transformed into memorable
beauty.
When you give, you
will receive.
If you have the
desire to give, you have the desire of God.
The time to give is
now.
There must be a
limit even to a good thing.
God will not answer
my prayer because of my good behaviour. But He will answer my prayer because I
believe in His goodness while knowing well my own wretchedness.
Your weakness is
meant to keep you humble. So be happy with it.
When God speaks it
is absolutely clear. So wait till that clarity arrives.
We struggle to the
point of knowing that our struggle is pointless. Then we come to the
realization that there is no escape from our bondage except in the promise of
Christ. The next thing is to believe in that promise and the very next thing is
to wait for its fulfilment.
Even the lone voice
that encouraged me is no longer heard. But my thankfulness still makes itself
heard.
God is in no hurry.
So just wait. You can't do anything on your own anyway.
To the one who
would not even give me a look I say, "I love you."
From Mahatma Gandhi
I have learned to respect even those who oppose me. The Mahatma has also taught
me the importance of humility and the destructive nature of violence. He has
instilled in me the desire to be simple and has directed me to identify with
the common man.
To the author and
finisher of my faith I say, "I trust in you as a lamb trusts his
shepherd."
Today let me say a
sincere prayer for others, and for those who are silent to me. May God bless
them and keep them.
Don't rush to speak
or to report what you've heard. Assimilate everything thoroughly and dare to
reject a point of view before you accept and promote it.
Nothing is in my
hands. Everything is in His hands.

Praying For The Children Of This World
Jesus Christ saw the specialness of children. Children are what we ought to be to know God. But many of our children are not well. Some are even endangered. We need to pray for them.

The Sayings of Samuel Godfrey George - September 2013
O Lord, help me
appreciate beauty and not cling to it.
To be happy in a
time of trouble - that cannot happen without God.
I must rejoice in
every little thing that happens to me today. I must let none of them escape.
Appreciation is
most sweet when it is not sought.
There is a thirst
for justice in every wronged man and may that thirst be fulfilled by the just
God.
What a mix this is!
And it is my mix. Let me hold on to it.
Sometimes I'd like
to think about what I've done for God in the last few years. But this is where
I end up. I've done nothing for God in these six years. It is He who has done a
work in me. I have been done. I have not done.
Celebrate. But celebrate what is real.
Don't be in a
hurry. Enjoy where you are now.
Make the most of
this day. Make the most of this life. Do what is best for you. Learn as much as
you can. Question everything that you learn. Above all experience as much of
life as possible. And test the truth of what you learn in the light of this
experience.
Whom God has
enabled will be allowed to accomplish.
Read, but don't over read the situation. Appreciate, but don't over appreciate something. Give thanks to God for good things even though you may not always know what they are.
How much heart have
you got left in you for evil after your nightmarish indulgence in it? When God
rules the man the ultimate consequence of an evil delight is a nightmare that
poisons the very desire for it.
Every time I come
out of darkness, I want to throw light on everything and everyone.
Fear comes from not
knowing God. He who knows and receives God's love cannot be terrified of God's
justice. For God has paid the price for Man's sins. So let this needless worry
about sin be over. We will all sin as long as we live. Even one sin is bad
enough. No one can escape from that. But those who believe in and accept Jesus
Christ have escaped from the punishment for sin. So let's rejoice in that.
Let's begin by smiling.
The greatest thing
a human being can aspire to do is to love selflessly his fellow human beings.
Such love is greater than any knowledge whether human or divine. Such love is
greater than even faith in God. Such love is the door to knowing and loving
God.
Nothing can stand
next to God. There is no attraction in the world that can stand next to God.
There are pretenders and aspirants of course. But they will all ultimately and
inevitably pale in significance.
I have learned not
to be afraid of my weakness. Because when I am weak then I am strong. In my
weakness God shows His strength.
I can even weep for
an enemy. This is what God has done for me.
Today if you want
to receive love give love first to someone who is not expecting it.
I've reached that
point in my life where I have no confidence in my own ability but I have total
confidence in the ability of Jesus Christ whom I will allow to live in me and
through me. Now I live the truth that without Him I can do nothing.
Lord, you can do
the impossible. I believe this. Fulfil my need today. Fulfil the needs of
your people today. Let your people not be ashamed. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
The great question
in faith is this: what will you do when your faith in God meets with
disappointment?
It is better not to do something than to say that you will do it and then not do it.
I am more than a
conqueror in Christ, though I don't feel like a conqueror at all. I can do all
things through Christ, though I have done only a few things so far. This is the
realistic picture of my life in the faith.
Faith is as much an
investment as time and money. The one who invested faith in God will stand to
be as much disappointed if his faith was not rewarded as another man who
invested in business and failed would be.
For all those who
are trusting in God today to provide their needs, let me pray this: "May
God answer the prayers of His people and grant their needs immediately without
any delay. May the faith of God's people be rewarded. May God do to them
according to their faith. In Jesus' name. Amen."
In scarcity I thank God for every plentiful moment.
I yearn for extreme
economy in expression, the simplest and the most direct communication of
thoughts. But this is not how I was before.
Be silent when you
have nothing to say.
The greatest lie is
that there are people and things more attractive than God.
For the peace on my
face I thank God. For the peace in my heart I thank God.
When God starts to
work in a man He will finish what He started, but the man must stay in an
attitude of faith willing to be worked upon.
There is a time for
folly and there is a time for wisdom. There is a time for lust and there is a
time for love. There is a time for worldliness and there is a time for
spirituality. There is a time for slavery and there is a time for freedom. One
will come after the other.
And for a while
absolutely nothing moved, nothing appeared to happen. And then suddenly it
happened. My miracle happened.
It's a journey from
confusion to clarity, from despair to hope and from fear to faith. It's my
journey to God.
Belief in God is
the persistent unwillingness to trust in your reasonable and probable fears and
the persistent willingness to trust in what seems to be the extravagant and
improbable promises of God.
The greatest act of
worship we can render to God today is to be honest with him.
To believe what you
are still not able to accept as true, that is belief.
To believe when
there is no reason to believe, that is belief.
God will not
forsake his people. His people shall never be ashamed.
Where love is God
is.
No one cares for me
more than God does. No one, not even my parent, not even my friend cares for me
more than God does. I may not be able to see him or hear him, but he cares for
me more than any human being cares for me.
When everything
falls apart you will be ready to believe in God.
When you are driven
to the extreme you will be driven to believe.
The Bible is right
about the fallenness of Man, for I have the seen that fallenness in me. There
can no be greater proof than what is daily proven unfailingly in me.
If you want to love
truly be willing and ready to let your love be trampled upon.
On a day when I
need help let me give help.
If I succeed in
bringing anyone to God, it will be God's doing from the beginning to the end.
There is no desire
in my heart stronger than my desire to be with God. This I will fiercely
believe and declare because thoughts of the opposite kind frequently besiege
me.
To die to a desire
one must live in it.
I should not be
worried about anything. But if I do decide to be concerned about something let
my concern be a concern of God.
To avoid a person
you need to know him and fear him. Sometimes we avoid what we should not fear
and invite what we should.
I should be more
than happy to be where I am.
If it's about numbers, it's pathetic. It's about people. It's not important that you reach many. It's important that you reach at least one person.
What is the point
of so much hatred in the name of love? Those who say they love, let them love.
Or let them hate and call what they do hatred.
There may be little
gain in talking to a bigot. But one must talk and one must hope that bigotry
fades away. We were all bigots of some kind to start with. And we did change.
People's approval
should mean very little to me.
Let's not be in a
hurry to move forward. While we are here let's look around and take in the
scene.
A great risk to the
health of the world is a lack of politeness, which is observable in many
places. Politeness is an outcome of respect. Respect is what we need to show to
a fellow human being regardless of what he believes and where he comes from. We
need to give one another the respect that we give ourselves.
Your passion for
Christ should not be harassment to others. Such passion is counter-productive
and reflects poorly on Christ.
You cannot pick and
choose what you believe. There are things in the Bible which you may not find
to your liking. Some things are downright reprehensible if not repulsive. What
will be your ultimate response to the word of God?
If you are going to
attack somebody do it outright. Do not pretend to bless him even as you attack
him. That's simply not cool.
The man who admits
his mistakes is one worthy of admiration. The man who apologizes for his
mistakes is still worthier.
Admit your mistake
and move on. There's no need to make excuses.
Reaching many
people is not important. Reaching one person is more important.
The hardest thing
is to be calm.
Love for Jesus
should not become a despicable thing. It is expressed gently and considerately
and with restraint. In any other manner it is not welcome.
We all need help
and receive help. The people who work for God need help. And they will get it.
Does that make them false teachers? No, that is not justifiable. There is no
church in the world that runs without help from its congregation. I doubt the
existence of a tool for evangelization in this world, which works without help
from people in any way. It was my hope to work without assistance. But it was a
foolish hope.
Nothing will bother
the one in Christ is simply not true. Christ himself was bothered by the
hypocrisy of his people, and he was certainly angered by the trivialization of
worship. Anyone who is in Christ, even anyone who cares about decency and good
behaviour will be bothered by rudeness, and anyone who cares about knowledge will
be bothered by ignorance. If people do not bother, the world will go from bad
to worse.
When your mind is
troubled by unanswered prayers think about the answered ones.
When you are
sickened by your desire for human approval you have walked the right road
indeed.
Love for God is
a beautiful thing but it becomes an ugly thing when it leads to hatred towards
one's fellow men.
Shut up when a fool
speaks.
Christians are not
saved by Christ so that they may boast about their sinlessness in Christ.
Rather they should talk about their weaknesses in which Christ works best to
produce His righteousness.
He who is acutely
aware of his sinfulness and his need of Jesus Christ is best able to draw
from the grace of Christ.
If only Christians
would spend as much energy building one another up as much as they do in
tearing one another down, Christianity might have a chance at approaching a
certain unity. But this approach is rarely seen in Christian communities.
Let me celebrate
the control that I am able to exercise in certain areas in my life rather than
bemoan the lack of control in other areas. It is best to be pleased with what
has been achieved rather than be worried about what has not been achieved.
There are some
people who are very sure of God. I personally do not want to be so sure of God.
I will allow for the surprise element in everything that God is likely to do.
This will be an admission of my partial knowledge, which is indeed reality.
A holier-than-thou
attitude is the best way to turn people away from Christianity. And this attitude
does not seem scarce in Christian communities today.
How do we rejoice
in God when there is trouble and lack in our lives? Is it even possible? Should
we even do it? The answer is yes. There is a lot to be thankful for in any
situation no matter how bad it is. Also there is something lacking in every
life. Since we tend to look at what we do not have we fail to be happy with
what we do have. We need to change this attitude or we will miss out on the happiness
that we must have. And that will be tragic.
Do not hang on to
anything that you find beautiful. Appreciate it and let it go.
The more I yell in
pain the more I speak.
Ultimately all
things except God become familiar and unattractive.
O God respond to
prayer. Respond to your people who cry out in distress. Was it not said that
nothing shall separate us from the love of God? Nothing means nothing. So why
do you still delay the response? O Lord listen. O Lord forgive. O Lord hear and
act.
If I love you
today, is that my achievement?
Attend to sin, but
do not be obsessed by it.
We must conquer our
nature. But we cannot conquer this on our own. We need someone else who has
conquered it for us. We need to stand in his shadow. He must be in us so that
we may be in him.
Do not be disturbed
by sin. But be disturbed by your obsession with sin.
The more knowledge
you want the more mistakes you must be willing to make.
A bad mistake can
lead to good knowledge.
Let me not be
bowled over by human approval. It is the flimsiest of things and if I hang on
to it I do so at my own peril.
The great challenge
in faith is to overcome fear, the fear of ultimate disappointment in what one
believes.
To trust in God you
cannot tie Him to your expectations. Not only does God work below our
expectations but He also works beyond them as well.
A prayer is a cry
from the heart desperate for relief.
My troubles have
driven me to God. My lusts have driven me to seek His righteousness. How then
can troubles and lusts be a curse?
I am suffering so
that I may understand those who are suffering.
I cannot let my
hope in God slip out of my hands even now when He seems to have delayed the
answer to a most pressing question.
A great threat to
Christianity are Christians themselves.
Silence is the best
answer to provocation.
Those who wish to
be strong will be weak.
If "when I am
weak, then I am strong" is right then what you have to do to be strong is
to be weak.
Is it possible to
resist God? Absolutely. That's what we do most of the time. Is it possible to
resist Satan? Absolutely. But that's what we don't do most of the time.
What can God do in
a man who would not let Him work in him?To work for God is to let God work in a
human being.
Barking dogs
shouldn't bother you if you see barking as a part of a dog's nature.
Those who called me
a great prophet of God have not said anything since then.
The last thing I
will do is to let myself be provoked immediately.
It is my privilege
to pray for even the dog that barks at me.
Fear enslaves. Love
liberates. The more we know the love of God the less we fear Him. It is when we
are not afraid of Him that we are free to love Him without the fear of the
consequences of not pleasing Him. God wants us to accept his love, and that is the beginning of everything.
When one wields the
sword of criticism one wields the sword of pride as well.
When God humbles a
man it is an act of love.
The tone
appropriate to God is not appropriate to Man. Let a man deal with his fellow men
in utter humility even considering himself lower than the others.
Learning is an act
of humbling, sometimes great humbling, and a disarming loss of pride.
The Bible thoroughly exposes Man's essentially sinful nature. Those who read the
Bible and pay attention to these details may lose sight of the essential nature of God. This is the love of God, which paid the ultimate price for Man's
sins. This love of God is what a follower of God must chose to be conscious of.
He will do well to celebrate the unbelievable grace of God rather than dwell on sinful human nature, which is being renewed every day by the work of the Spirit of God in him.
