As a Protestant I have declared "The Apostles' Creed" many times in church. I have said these words: "I believe in the holy catholic church." And though the world "catholic" may not necessarily imply the Roman Catholic faith, I realize that Protestantism rose in protest against the Catholic Church, and can be said to have resulted from it. Though the Protestant Church may not have much in common with its Catholic counterpart it cannot fail to respect the mother of all churches.
