There is a risk in believing in God. There is the risk of ending up looking stupid. I am willing to take that risk. For in the risk lies a peace. In the peace lies a joy.

Is The Bible Not The Authoritative Truth?
Some people find the Bible inconsistent and incomplete. Therefore they cannot consider it the authoritative truth of God. Samuel Godfrey George discusses the origin of this notion of incompleteness and unreliability of the Bible with reference to three areas relevant to modern life, viz., abortion, homosexuality and masturbation.
Clothes Are The Strongest Evidence For The Bible's Truth
Since the moment Adam and Eve committed the Original Sin, they and their descendants have been conscious of their nakedness to the point of being ashamed of it. To this day we the children of Adam and Eve continue to conceal our nakedness because of a shameful awareness of it. This is the strongest evidence for the Bible's presentation of Man's Fall.

The Sayings of Samuel Godfrey George - May 2012
Don't be worried by what tempts you. Your weakness shall lead to strength. When you are weak, then you shall receive strength from above. Only seek it humbly knowing that in your own strength you cannot overcome what waits to overwhelm you. No temptation is greater than the power that is already within you. Find that power through faith and wield it with belief. Then what seemed your greatest threat will become the door to your greatest strength.
What's cold in my life? Everything is cold
except my madness for God. Now what's hot in my life? God is the only
contender. And I hope that he gets hot enough for every cold thing to be consumed in His heat.
Be thankful to God for all gifts: the gifts
that have come, the gifts that will come and the gifts that will never come.
God is good. All that He does and does not do is for your good. Believe that
today.
When someone says something good to you,
before you thank that person say, "Thank you Lord." for it is God who
inspired this person to say those words to you. Whatever people say, even if it
is not something you like, say "Thank you God." For everything will
be used by God to make something good out of you. Even the negative remarks and
indifferent behaviour of others will be used by God to strengthen and improve
your character. So thank God today for everything that happens to you.
What people do not say to you is as
important as what they say to you. Control your feelings, overcome the
disappointment that is inherent in all human relationships and observe others
carefully. Take note of what they say and take note of what they do not say.
What human beings fail to say is a source of much learning.
If I speak what you wouldn't and perhaps
couldn't speak there is a reason for that. I have walked in places where you
would not dare to go. I have dwelt among demons that you would not allow
anywhere near you. I have penetrated the darkness when all that you want to do
is to stay outside and away from it. So I shall speak of what I have seen with
the boldness of the man who has surely seen what he speaks of. He who shakes
his head at me should do so for that is the grace that has been allowed him.
God may live among us and we may not know.
Goodness and beauty may flourish in the dreary places where we live. Yet we may
not know of their existence. Each of us is lost in his own life, pursuing the
desires of his own heart. There is no time, no inclination to look around and
see that one person, who speaks a different language, leads a different life,
so different that he seems like a loser. This is life's great tragedy. God
did come into the world, but his own did not recognise him. They in fact killed
him as they would kill the lowest criminal.
There is a terrible beauty in life.
Yesterday I saw two young labourers play with an abandoned shuttlecock. Their
dirty hands served as bats for they had none. The boys were leading a hard life. But they
had the time to relax and enjoy. One of them smiled continually displaying the
gaps in his teeth. It was the most wonderful sight in a dreary and noisy
environment exacerbated by the intense heat of the summer sun. All day the
scene remained. Even at night it played back in my mind. Now I must write it
down before I forget the power of it.
Beauty isn't everything. One must also note
the ugliness of life. Without studying the ugliness one cannot achieve any
mastery over life. God is love. God is also justice. God also punishes and
purges his people. Without understanding God in this way, one can be seriously
led into the error that God will tolerate anything as long as one is sorry for
it later. So appreciate life, but also be aware of its corrupted nature. Be
bold in the presence of God, but don't let the boldness become a license for
unrighteousness.
There's no victory in surrender. But
there's victory in resistance and rejection. When you resist and reject what
you have a weakness for, then your weakness is converted into strength. Rejoice
even in the little resistance you exert. Celebrate even the tiniest impulse to
turn away from what tugs at your heart.
Today I have renewed contact with several
students of mine. I wonder why this has happened. I certainly wanted it to
happen. But why did I desire this? What could be the point of all this? I
rather not think too much. God is good. What I wanted He granted. Above all let
me experience the simple joy of a wish granted. That alone is the meaning of this
experience.
Disbelief is for disbelievers and not for believers. Let the believer
believe. It is better to believe than to disbelieve in the God that you
claim to believe in. Believe that he is working in you. Believe that he
is changing you moment by moment. Every experience no matter how
frustrating is shaping you. True, you are nothing like what you hope to
be. But it is equally true that you are nothing like what you used to
be. Open your eyes and see what God has done. And he is still at work in
you.
What God usually looks
for is humility. Whoever is aware of his powerlessness is usually the
right person for God. What God really wants to know is whether a person
genuinely acknowledges his need of God. If a person is genuinely dependent on
God, then he is the right person for God. All of us are morally and spiritually
corrupt. None of us is fit for God to work in us.
However, it is only the humble among us who are fitted for God's work, and God
himself does this fitting. What God resists is not talent but pride.
2012 may well go without any major
catastrophes, at least not the earth-altering ones. If it does it is another
reminder that Man is ill equipped to predict the exact time when this world
will end. Many have tried and failed miserably. Nevertheless some still try.
Let them be reminded that their efforts are doomed to fail. For we are told in
the Word of God, that no man exactly knows the time of the return of Christ to
earth. All that we know are signs, and even the signs are not easy to
interpret.
When a tiny part of your body is numb you
will appreciate sensitivity in the other parts. When something is taken away
even to a tiny measure you will appreciate what is still left. If you are
suffering in any small way today rejoice that you are still capable in other
ways.
"Rejoice in the Lord always, and again
I say rejoice", said Saint Paul. What does this mean? Why should we
rejoice in the Lord? And why should we rejoice always? The Lord loved the world
and proved his love by dying for us on the cross. The shedding of his blood
makes it possible for us to taste the joy of belonging to him, of being
children of God. We who were dead in our sins and doomed to go to hell have now the undeserved reward of eternal life with
God. Not only should we receive this priceless gift with joy, but we should also
celebrate this always, for there is much suffering in life and this will make
us forget the tremendous gift that we have been given. Rejoicing always in the
love of God and in the promise of an eternal life with him will help us bear the troubles on this earth.
One who says about the God of the Bible, “If God is not what I want him to be, I’ll not worship him” knows little about God or about worship. No believer of God can ever specify what God must be in order to be worthy of worship. What God is he is. No human being can alter his essential nature. God is love. He loved the world so much that he sent Jesus to us, not to condemn us but to save us from our sins. We, the people of this world, sinned. Everyone turned away from God’s way to follow the desires of his own heart. Man could make no payment for his sin, so God had to sacrifice his own sinless Son for sinful Man. The blood of Jesus was spilled for every rebellious human being who walked away from God. And the blood still makes atonement for the rebellion of Man. Therefore those who rebel against God should not justify their rebellion but repent of it humbly in the knowledge that God is indeed right and that they are indeed wrong. This is the brokenness that is expected.

You work for God, so be a servant in your
thinking. Desire the well-being of your God and not your own well-being. Strive
to spread His name and not your name. Be content to stay in His shadow even if
you cannot be seen. In the glory of God is your glory. In His shelter is your
eternal destiny.
At least I'm trying. I'm hoping. I'm doing something by faith. I'm exercising faith. And that's more important than receiving the desired answers.
I am not selfless. I am always conscious of
self. I am also selfish. I always seek gain for myself. There is little hope
that I will turn selfless in my own strength. This is why I need God. This is
why I turn to Christ. When I live in Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ
who lives in me. If I die and He lives, I will be truly selfless.
As long as Christ is in me, every other
thing pales in significance.
I won today with my Lord. I will win all my
life with my Lord Jesus Christ.

The Divine And The Human In Me
Jesus on earth was both God and Man.
And we, the sons and daughters of Adam, are both divine and human. Jesus is the only uncreated Son of God. Adam, our father is a created son being
formed from the dust of the earth though in the image of God.
The divine and the human in us make each of us two rather than one. The tension between the two is due to conflict and not harmony. The misery of life is due to the suppression of the divine element by the human. One continues in the conflict in the hope that the divine will ultimately overcome the human. The hope is really a promise made by God through Christ.
The Lord has striven much within me. His beautiful strife has produced much beauty. There is much I haven't said. My words conceal and reveal. Not all will be revealed. In the mystery of the divine is the beauty.

Not Christians, But Lovers Of Christ
We are lovers of Christ. We may not be
Christians. A Christian is not necessarily a lover of Christ. There are
Christians who do not know the Christ. And there are Christians whom Christ
does not know.
We know and love Christ. And Christ loves us. We know this because the thought of Christ brings us joy. And if Christ loves us, He surely understands us. Though we fall short of His glory, He justifies us in the sight of God. The purpose of Christ is to reveal God's love to Man. His desire is not to condemn but to justify. His intent is not to abandon the lost child, but to seek and return him to the Father.
You know your Lord. He lives in you. His beauty shines through you. Your thoughts, your words and your love testify to this.
May the Light that shines in us dispel the darkness that surrounds us.

Evy - My Sunshine Boy
August 17, 2011:
Today I am inspired to dedicate this song to my music friend Samuel Godfrey George. Dear Sam ...
"I thank you for the sunlight you beamed at me that day, when my world was black and blue and everything was gray ..."
May the Lord bless you and your family, and shine His light of love upon you all. I will always remember your compassion when I returned home from the hospital, a serious time when I needed it the most.
With love from Canada,
EVY

Thanks for Teacher Samuel Godfrey George
Video in appreciation of a very special
teacher here on youtube by the name of Samuel Godfrey George. Someone I
try to pray for often in his efforts to spread the Good News! These are
some images mixed with my very favorite clips and pics of Samuel along
with the song "Thank You" by Ray Boltz that I offered in church just
yesterday for teacher appreciation Sunday. If you listen close you can
hear my mom tearing up in the live recording. She was my first mentor
for Jesus- and it was so cool to sing thanks to all my mentors!
Christian Haters and Bigots
The compulsion to hate is as strong as, if
not stronger than the compulsion to love. Every one of us would be ready to
hate as long as he has something to hate. Yet the impulse to hate is reined in
by obedience to Christ who commanded us to love our enemies, and to love our
fellow men. But this obedience is impossible to achieve by human strength
alone, and is a work of the Holy Spirit who resides in the believer. You have
travelled quite a distance in your walk with God. Others have not. That is
simply the difference.
Christians, by virtue of being Christians,
or by virtue of being baptised and confirmed, do not automatically put on a
garb of righteousness. Merely reading the Word of God, or listening to a
charismatic preacher does not transform a person into a practising Christian.
People who follow the teachings of Christ are those who are in love with Christ
to the extent that they do not value anything else. They are also people who
understand the deep truth in the teaching of Christ and appreciate the
importance of following it. Such a love for Christ is a work of the Spirit, and
is given automatically to some people. Others labour to follow Christ, usually
in vain.
You can live with Christ, and still betray
Him. Judas has proved that already. You can fraternise with Christ, and still
be found wanting in faith and grace. The apostles have proved that. What made
the same disappointing apostles the pillars of the Christian faith is the
transforming work of the Spirit of Christ. It is not by might, nor by power but
by His Spirit. And His Spirit does not transform everyone who claims to be
Christian, simply because most claims are not true.
That most Christians are judgemental,
intolerant and hateful should not come as a surprise. They are either ignorant
of the teachings of Christ, or are unmoved by them, as the Spirit is not at
work in them.
Therefore the greatest challenge for a
practising Christian is to persevere in faith, despite the little inspiration
that can be derived from fellow Christians. Ultimately he or she lives to
please Christ, at the cost of everything else.
- Samuel Godfrey George
Why many Christians compulsively hate
Samuel Godfrey George reads his letter
to his friend Dianne Partain, written three years ago, in which he
explains why according to him most Christians have the compulsion to
hate.
It should not be difficult to trust in God
What God did in my life with respect to my father is the one incident that will always restore my faith in Him.

The King and the Prince
Wearied by life and distracted by misfortune
You lament over lost opportunities.
Fortunate man, who is he that walks by your side?
Is he not your Prince? Are you not his King?
More precious than gold is he who came from you;
Greater than acquisitions and wealth
Is the fruit of your loins, the flesh of your flesh.
Forgetful man, turn to the fortune that cannot be priced,
Celebrate the blessing that cannot be overlooked,
Embrace the wonder that you have brought into this world,
And hold on to that joy till your last breath.
Let not misery distract, let not fear overwhelm
The fire of a father’s love that should be never put out.
Spare him not your counsel; raise him in the light of his Lord,
Leave not his shadow even for a moment; love him till the very end.
Walk upright before him, be his master, be his light.
Fall not from grace; wreck not his heart.
Remember the blessing comes at a price,
And you must be a man before you can be a father.
Trifle not with the gift of God; wake up before it is too late.
Let the serpent not invade the garden of the King and his Prince,
And bring to ruin the joy of Heaven.

The Mathematics of God - A Father's Pain
God is my Father,
I am His son.
The pain He inflicts
Is the pain I inflict.
The pain of his Fatherhood
Is the pain of my fatherhood.
I am His inconstant son,
So I have an inconstant son.
From my fickle love for my Father
Comes my son's fickle love for me.
My Father longs to bless me
As I long to bless my son.
Yet my Father cannot bless me
As I cannot bless my son.
I spurned my Father
So my son has spurned me.
There is no fire in my blood,
So there is no fire in my son's blood.
God will be my Father
When I am ready to be His son.
Only then will my son be ready
For me to be His father.

Life and Death
When are the living dead? When the living fail to acknowledge the
source of life they are dead. Without this acknowledgement there can be
no worship of the One who is the only one fit to worship. And in the
absence of that worship, there can be no spiritual growth. Without
spiritual growth a human being cannot be complete. The spirit that is
not allowed to grow will decay in the body in which it resides. That
body may show signs of physical life, yet it is spiritually dead. The
living body is destined for physical death, but the decaying spirit will
outlive the body to live an eternal life of spiritual death.
The spiritually dead cannot be victors over life, which is under the law of sin. They cannot know the Truth, which liberates Man from all forms of bondage. The Truth is the realization that nothing that is created is worthy of worship or devotion, and that the only One who is worthy is the Creator. Neither this realization nor the worship of the Creator is self-achieved. The union of the human spirit and the Divine Spirit achieves these. Such union cannot be forced. It is predestined. Those who belong to the Creator are predestined to belong to Him.
God is the Creator. Man is the created. Man is also a creator, as he is made in the image of God, who is the Supreme Creator. The image of God that Man bears is of a spiritual nature. Like God, Man has the knowledge of good and evil. Yet unlike God, he does not have the power to choose good over evil, as he is under the law of sin, as ordained by God. Man came under the law of sin as a result of his disobedience to God. His disobedience to God was also an act of obedience to the enemy of God, the Devil. The disobedience to God separated Man from God. And Man without God came under the rule of the Devil.
The rule of the Devil over Man’s soul can be undone only by the intervention of
God. This intervention can only take place when Man recognizes God and His Truth. And this will not come to pass by human might and understanding.
There is Divine wisdom, and then there is human wisdom. The two are in conflict, as God and Man are in conflict. Man, who is made in the image of God is unlike God. God chooses good, and Man chooses evil. How then can God’s wisdom not conflict with that of Man?
The wisdom of God is for the benefit of those who have been predestined to belong to God. Even those who have been predestined to belong to God can resist God. Resistance to God is in the very nature of Man. Those who resist God resist life. Let not people of God continue in their error. Though they walk in the path of eternal death, they will not die, for God will not be prevented from having those who belong to Him. The people of God will come to their senses, and turn away from the clutches of death. They will return to their God.
